So where do you guys thing will be rideable and not a mud fest? It is supposed to be in the warmer so I imagine still above freezing by the time we are riding. Thoughts?

Ute was nothing but ice. Took the dog for a short walk and was sliding all over. It'll take awhile for all the to melt and dry out.

Stratton was was grooved ice yesterday and slushy the day before.
High drive was snow packed all the way to the entrance of Palmer trail. Palmer trail was a mix of snow pack and slush up until the little bridge. then it was mix between wet decomposed granit and slush. It was much warmer up high yesterday. Section 16 was snow pack the whole way down to the bottom. There was a few muddy spots on the little off shoot trail that we take down to the road. So there is a 50/50 chance that it would be good to ride to hit up section 16.

Jay and I had fairly miserable conditions on the Santa Fe Sunday. It was frozen slush and unpacked snow for much of the way north. By the time we headed south again, the snow was at least packed a little from the hikers who were on the trail between our out and our back. It was still really icy though, and I have blisters on my palms from the jack-hammer action of riding over bumpy ice for 20 miles. And that's the trail that should be good when everything else is crap!

If we get the 1"-3" of snow they are calling for tonight, this might be a frustrating ride on Wednesday. Still, if there is a way for us to ride, I would really like to get out somewhere.

Does anyone have any suggestions about what might be good on Wednesday? The forecast is for 36 degrees at 6:00, and it isn't going to drop below 33 degrees during our regular ride time. I think Palmer Park and Ute are both out with those temps. What about Section 16? Or Stratton?

Palmer park was pretty slow going yesterday. Even though it didn't ever really warm up, the southern facing sides were muddy. What wasn't muddy was icy and everything else seemed to have 4 inches of packed snow with a nice layer of ice underneath.

Thanks for the recon HTRN. A friend and I are taking an opportune ride down to Pueblo and will be riding the CX bikes back up to the Springs. I might be in for the night ride, but maybe not, so I have no opinion on where we ride. I am going to try though.

Stratton will be good to go. I went up the road to avoid the more cly mud down towards the parking lot. The rest should be good to go. Random buts of ice, but all rideable.

On a side note, it has been a while since I got high. But me and uncle buck got high. We then threw down on some captain Morgans and jack Daniels. Was mostly on the rocks but drinkable. Only a few scary shots.

All I can say is that I'm SO GLAD we didn't listen to John! That ride was a riot! The conditions could have been a LITTLE less icy, but 85% of the trail was in killer shape! Great ride guys!
