XTR Disc Brakes - Enough to stop a Clyde?

    Hi,

I have been offered a second hand set of XTR disc brakes. I usually run the XT's. The calipers look pretty small on these. ANyone used them? Do they have enough stopping power for XC use?

but the answer is yes they are fine for a clyde's xc needs. Depending on which model year they are (and which year your xt's are) there may not even be much of a weight "savings" for you and I'm not convinced there is *any* purly performance advantages over your xt's, but I wouldn't be surprised if someone argued there is a minimal increase...

    Ride well.

    Thanks Kraig.

I went out riding this morning with a guy using Avid Juicy's. Incredible stopping power!

Assuming you are comparing them to the new 2 piston 765 XT's then the stopping power is the same. Functionally they are the same brake. The XTR has a shaved down caliper to sve weight.

upgrade front rotor to 180mm . I did that with my 765 XTs and love it.
