Hey guys. Looking into a set of Carbon hoops for my Tallboy LTc. This is my first carbon wheel set and I am a clyde at 270#. I ride northeast rocky single track with some jumps and drops. Just looking for some feedback (good or bad) about these two wheel sets. If there and any fellow Clyde's on these wheels, even better. Thanks in advance. Matt.
I did look at the ibis. Looks like Derby and Ibis went in together on the molds. But I don't know that I want a 41mm wide rim. I think the 35mm should do just fine for me and I would think better for the Rocky conditions (less side rim strikes?). But then again I'm new to the wide carbon wheel setup so I could be wrong.
As long as you're *on* the bike, the Derby DH rims are borderline indestructible. I ride them on my 29" DH bike, which sees a few weeks worth of normal riding abuse crammed into every day I'm on it--courtesy of the chairlift.
I know Derby has a very positive rep from those who ride them. I have been dreaming of Derby hoops for my Prime for a long time now. Just waiting for my FLOWEX to give me an excuse to ditch them.
