Just so you know, there is already a Clydesdale club in Strava. It isn't mountain biking specific, but has quite a few members. I joined yours too, I like to see what other people's regular rides are like around the country...

I've been using Strava (regular non-clyde) on XC trail rides for over a year and really like it.
I find it motivates me to try harder, go longer, improve my skills …..all on my own schedule.

Ok- I'm Rob and I live in Dc metro area. Been riding Lake Fairfax for past 20 years. Currently trying to make my goal of 1000 miles ridden on the mountain bike for the year.
I'm 6'5", weight fluctuates from 250-300 depending on any given year. Main goal is to continue riding for the next 20 years. I'm currently 47.

Greg here from So. California. Typically get in 2-3 rides in a week. I'm 34 y.o., 6'2, 250 lbs presently but weight range is 230-265 depending on how I manage my eating/riding ratio. Goal is to stay active and at the lower end of my range. Also hoping to do some xc racing as a beginner to check that off the bucket list next fall.

    New Strava Club for Clydes

Hmmm, another Aussie checkin in living in Perth and using my shiny new 29er for commuting only at this stage but hoping to get out and start playing on some trails soon.. 28yo, 185cm and 119kg (whatever that is in pounds lol) .. Lift weights a few times a week and not overly bothered about body weight so don't expect that to head too far south any time soon - goals riding wise are to make commuting a habit and start getting off-road for a play whenever I can.

    Just joined the club.

40 year old fat guy from SoCal. Currently I'm 6'2 and 230lbs. Looking for 200lbs, 185 would be perfect.

I ride both dirt and road. Last year I did just over 2000 miles and 125,000 feet of elevation gain. This year I'm looking for 4000 miles and 250,000 feet of elevation.

Impressive mileage & elev gain! I miss living in Socal/Santa Clarita & Newbury Park. Dallas,Texas doesnt afford much in the way of elevation gain but we'll make the best of it!

Joined last week. Rode 7 miles then my rear dee started skipping second gear. Been updating some hardware then one thing led to another... I should have her up and running by Friday.
Losing an entire week of riding kind of .....
Especially since I was getting past the soreness of riding , finding my groove, equipment & accessories functionality etc.
    Ok rant over.

    Velo,
I can relate to your hardware woes.
Long ago I had a direct link with GT Bicycles and had access to all the latest and greatest. I don't remember EVER having hardware issues back then. Well, times change and I have been reduced to using Craigslist as my LBS. Starting last February, I bought a Giant Iguana Disc from a guy on the list and fell back in love with mountain biking. This thing would click and clack and skip teeth and suck chain...goddam it was annoying. In April 2013 I learned a lesson about brake maintenance...I wasn't doing any. I had a real bad crash (2 in one day actually) and broke the stock Manitou fork and lost about a pound of skin and blood (not the kind of loss I was looking for). Looking for a new fork that would actually work for my fat ass was discouraging. You really cant get a decent fork (even on the CL) for less than $300. I could not see spending 50% more for a fork than I paid for my whole bike. So, I was out of the game again, but desperate to find another option. Financially I could not justify buying a new bike so I was committed to finding the best deal I could on Craigslist. In July, I purchased an 8 year old bike with a 9 year old fork from a guy on CL, maxing out my $500 budget. While this bike and its components were the shiz when they were new, they are super prone to problems due to the age and amount of use they had and continue to see.

About 3 months ago my front D cage exploded. Since then I have been riding what I like to call an "adjustable 1x9". My rear D has always had trouble staying on 2nd and/or 3rd/4th so that's something that I have grown accustomed to. Also, my chain will slip if I am really laying on the torque.

One day, when I reach my goal weight (an win the lottery), I will be buying myself a new bike. Until then...the clicking goes on.

I've found that on ebay you can really score some good deals on drivetrains. There seems to be a lot of people dumping the stuff that came on their bikes for the fancy stuff. I scored some X9 and X7 stuff for super cheap. I think I got the rear der and rear shifter for like $40 all in. Made a huge difference over the old alivio stuff that was on there. Then once I blew the suntour fork I was able to get a rockshox reba RLT (cut but barely used) for $250. There are some screaming deals on there to replace the stuff we big boys wear out. You can routinely get the recon silvers and gold (still air shocks) for cheap on ebay.

a year later and I've now gone single speed and it's so much nicer. Don't miss all of that crap at all.
