    Need advice!

I'm looking to get my first FS bike and have ~$2k to spend. I'm 6'1" and 220 lbs. I do a couple Xterra's each year but I'm not really looking to go fast, just be able to climb and ride down anything that looks fun. I ride a lot of singletrack, roots, babyheads, creekbeds & drops up to 3'.

I was looking at the SC Heckler or the Specialized Stumpjumper FSR Comp or Enduro. The LBS guy keeps telling me the Specialized Epic Disc is the ultimate bike in my price range. I am worried that it might not hold up. Isn't it more of a race bike?

Any experience or suggestions would be great. Thanks.

I am the same height and weight as you....and I have a 2004 Stumpy FSR Expert(4" of travel). I also ride the same type of terrain. This is my 3rd FS Stumpy since '97. Very happy with all 3 bikes. With your weight and riding style, IMO I would get disc though.

2nd vote for the stumpy. You're right about the epic, its too boy-racer for an aggressive clyde

I'd go with the Kona Hoss Deluxe, but I'm a Kona freak!! Now if I could just afford one!
