    Mavic x317 rim for clyde

Anyone have experience with these. There are a couple of posts in the review section by heavier riders who taco'd them, but many of those reviews can be overly negative.

I found a HopeXC/Mavic317 wheelset for sale locally for $100. Love the hope hubs, but I'm a little concerned about those rims.

It depends...I am a "light" Clyde (220lbs) who tends to also ride "light" and I have had great success with Mavic XC rims including 217, 517, 317, and 223. But I also have a friend who is 160lbs soaking wet who has destroyed a set of 317's. If your easy on equipement and they are built up well with good spokes (like DT Comps) and they are used for XC riding...then you might be OK

317's are not bad, but don't run over a 2.3 tire and don't overinflate your tire over their recommendation for that tire size on that rim, especially on the rear. For $100, it would be hard to beat.
