you can build that exact same wheelset through chain reaction cycles for about $600 and they ship for free you will of course have to mount your own rotors tires and cassette I even upgraded the spokes and nipples to their most expensive option

    Confirm Your Selection

or you can play around with the options to knock even more money off, and oops dont need that velox tape I added for stans rims

I might consider it at around $730. Edit: This would be the price I'd consider for a 29er wheelset. A 26 inch wheelset would be much cheaper. And I'd only go $730 to support my local shop, for the work they did putting the wheels on, and so I have a place to take them for free truings.

I bought two wheelsets built around Hope Pro 2s, both through Chain Reaction. One was $350, and the other was $330. The cheaper one used Mavic 321s and some 14 gauge spokes. It's still lighter and stronger than any of my mass produced wheelsets. C'mon, get a cheap, strong, light wheelset that is hand built. Shoot, I'll even sell you one of mine.

I bought the same setup for my 29er from Chad @ Red Barn for $600 shipped. I do not think mounting rotors, tires, and cassette is worth $281!

No I hear you. I got my 29er set for $500, but that builder isn't building any more and the $600 deal is about as cheap as I've seen them lately. Let me amend my earlier post. I'd be willing to spend about $100 bucks over the cheapest online price for the services offered by the LBS. That would include mounting the wheels and free adjustments for, say, a year.

Long story short, OP, that deal sucks.

If you get a good wheelset that is handbuilt from Chain Reaction, you shouldn't have to worry about anything going wrong. I've ridden mine for a couple years now, and they are still completely true. $350 is the top of what I would spend on wheels.

Man, maybe I should move to Britain and work for CRC since I already tout it so much.
