Fittin on stronger seatpost clamp? - slipping. Monocog 29er

    Hi folks,

Wondering if somebody could assist with reccomending a stronger seatpost clamp as the stock one on my 2011 Redline monocog 29er is slipping underneath my 250 lbs. on bumpy surfaces.

Also i might need some direction on the proper fit. The seatpost itself is Redline forged alloy 26.8 x 350mm per the Redline spec site. I've seen that Thomson is quality but they don't sell a 26.8, I only see a 28.6 and higher.

Finally the seatpost itself seems very sturdy. Would I gain anything from biting the bullet and buying a new seatpost as well? I can extend it and its tall enough for me until I start bouncing. I need it not to slip!

    Thanks in advance.

Salsa QR and friction paste should do the trick...

Rub sandpaper on the seatpost, worked on a few of my slipping seatposts in the past.

I ended up cutting a small piece off an aluminum can as a shim. After I added that between the seat post and frame, no more slipping on my Monocog.

I have the same problem on my monocog. In fact, I have a 2010 'cog and I'm about 260lbs myself. The bike is great except for this slipping seatpost.

I have tried chalk, and it does help, but I'm still getting slippage. I have tightened the clamp to the point where I feel I may break the head of off the bolt. So I think its a combination between the clamp and the post myself.

Does anyone know what the size is for the seat clamp? I hear good things about the Salsa ones. But like the OP said, I wonder if another seatpost would make an difference as well?

I am 6'6" 250 and I use a salsa liplock with friction paste on my Thompson elite. Solid.
