    crank size. (roadie content)

OK. Don't shoot me this is about a road bike. I'm 6' 4" and 208 so I guess it's good for Clyde forum. I'm both tall and 200lbs +. Thinking of getting a compact crankset 50/34. I like rides with lots of climbing and have always used a 53/39 paired with a 27-12. This combo has worked for years, but I would like to spin up some of the climbs instead of grinding them out. With the compact I would use a 25-11. I don't race anymore but still ride 500 miles a month. Any other riders my size try a compact and like it?
Comas aren't as fun as riding your bike, so wear a Helmet.

Big fan of the compact. In addition to lower gearing it makes shifting pretty simple. You are basically always in the big ring except on long or very steep climbs.

I'm subscribing just because I've got some thoughts to throw a compact crank on my cross bike.

38/45 gearing on an 11-28 cassette works pretty well for mixed commuting and trails but I could go for a slightly lower gear offroad. Onroad I've never really wanted a lower gear but I dont ride mountains yet.
