2012... mile challenge poll: how many miles for 2012?

this is in reference to our annual mileage challenge FAT BOY 2011 CHALLENGE:project 50,000 miles...

going to post the new 2012 thread tomm night as it's new years eve

this year we managed to pull hard right at the last month... honestly I didn't think we'd make it... but obviously we killed the 50k which I thought was going to be tough to do... so good job guys

anyway... last year we did beat the 40k challenge with 45k... the year prior we did 35k (and the challenge was only for 25k)

so where where should we go for 2012?... 55k? 60k?... you are the guys pedaling it... so I need some input from you

    so what are your thoughts?

I say shoot for 60K, I rode almost 1900 miles (logged on Garmin 405cx) and probably an extra 100 not logged this year. I would personally like to shoot for 2500 miles next year! All depends on my job, when I find one.....

I didn't add the undocumented miles prior to getting my Garmin. That would have added another 800+/-. Assume that there will be new folks joining the challenge throughout the year and we will finish right at 55k for 2011. Let's shoot for 60k. Hopefully circumstances will change and I won't have as much free time to ride. Or at least have to participate in more night rides. Happy New Year all!

60,000, just have to make more Clydes aware of the challenge. Many of the posters in the last month were not even aware of the challenge. Post it in General as well to draw in those whom may not frequent the Clydes forum. My two cents.

I'm surprised we made it too. Beginning of December, I thought there was no way. But it seemed like a few posted their entire year at once, and just in time.

I generally set goals that are hard but doable, I think 60k is. We made 55k this year, 10 people posting up 500 more miles than last year would do it..

It would be interesting to see how many "regulars" we had, and how much they contributed per week or month.

I say 75K.... I only started contributing mid-year, and could have doubled up had I seen it earlier...

This year, I should be good for about 3000 miles on my own... I'll be some where around 1000 before March 31, 2012 when I race my first 60 mile MTB.

Why not shoot for 65K. I think 60K would be too easy.
We have more interested and posting consistently.

The 90, 100+ degree Days killed my riding this summer. Just too dang hot and dangerous to ride.

I'm good for at least 1500-2000 assuming the weather cooperates.
