Regardless of the chain, big guys will break chains more often if they have poor shifting technique and cross chain a lot.

For the record I have never broken a 10 speed chain, I did break a few SRAM 9 speed chains about a decade ago (and even then if was from bad shifts on my part) and have since used either Shimano or KMC chains with no issues.

Just curious, if you go with a t 1x10 or 1x11 how do you avoid cross chaining ?

I have a set of kmc x10. I bought 2 figuring id wear them out quickly as im 265 in my boxers now, was 285-290 when I went to 10s. I stand and mash when I need to etc. Both chains started use march last year, I switch from 1st to second chain end of season, 1st chain as 75% life left, can't see wear on a ruler on this chain yet. And at $25 a chain im a happy camper. I went through 8s chains 2 a season easily before.

Mainly avoid light weight chains. Ti or fancy looking feather weight stuff, won't last u long. When it comes to being a Clyde, forget bling and feather weight unless u got really deep pockets and like replacing parts.
