    Make straps more secure?

I have a Allen hitch rack. The straps have a plastic buckle and they don't grip/lock as well as I feel they should - https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon....307905476_.jpg

Should it be a concern and does anyone have similar straps? I could put a cam buckle strap around the frame and rack just incase they come loose. Or I could buy a couple cam buckles and tighten them right next the plastic buckle.

Replace them with ball bungees. Available in different lengths. Here's an example:

    Kotap BB-9B Ball Bungee, 9-Inch, Black, 25-Piece

I never had a problem with my Allen trunk rack with similar straps. Are you able to pull the bike off with the straps cinched down?

I tied the bike up with an old tube to keep the wheel from flopping around, and to keep the bike from swaying. Maybe that helped take load off the straps. Still, it was a 45# downhill bike I was carrying with it, never had any issue, even on a ~400 mile trip.
