How to transport bike bag to and from the airport

For those of you who've traveled with a big bike bag, how do you usually transport your bike bag to or from the airport? What kind of car and where on the car do you put the bag, if it fits anywhere?

Usually have a Freind with a pickup take to the airport when I use my bike box. I recently started shipping it to a local shop at the destination instead of taking in the plane. Was cheaper and just as easy.

My work pays for a taxi though, so if I'm taking it with me on a work trip, I just take a taxi.

I've had to put them on top of luggage laid out horizontally in a rental car. Takes up all the headroom but works in a pinch

One EVOC bike bag will fit in the back seat of a small sedan.

When I've had to take 2 EVOC Bike bags, I put one EVOC bike bag in the back seat (with the bike inside the bag) and the second empty EVOC bike bag in the trunk with the bike on my rack. Once I got to the airport, I disassembled the bike in the parking lot and put it in the EVOC bike bag (it takes about 15 minutes).

Sometimes there just isn't room to fit your bike in its case inside your car. Maybe you have a tiny car, extra passengers, a family's worth of luggage, or all of the above. Check out this article for a solution to bring the bike bag along: Transporting Bikes While In Travel Case | etrailer.com
