    Best rack for off-road driving?

I frequently drive dirt roads rocky and unmaintained. I had an old Sportworks rack that was solid but I had to modify it for 29er wheels and, well, it's about 20 years old. My buddy won an older Kuat which has developed a ton of play driving these roads. So, I'm looking for something new.

It looks Sportworks was bought by Thule and shifted their focus to the front end of municipal election buses. I've seen the new Kuat and Thales in person and didn't feel inspired to buy.

I'm not 100% on a rear mount hitch, just whatever works best off-road. Price is only a tertiary concern but I'd rather avoid custom.

Who makes the strongest rack for two bikes?

I am really happy with my North Shore Rack. Holds 4 bikes and it's easy to use.
