    Beater for your bike?

Just cruious how many people like me run around with a $5,000 bike in the back of a $1,000 vehicle.

I picked up a "Free" 2004 Jeep liberty with shot front bearings, ball joints, tires, and a cracked front windshield. All in all I've invested $1,000 into fixing it up and currently use it as a cheap daily driver.

I've put arund 50,000 miles on it (Currently just under 200,000) and it's going strong. I converted it to a 4x4 a month or so ago for around $200 in parts from a local you pull it junk yard. Insurance costs nothing (My bike has more insurance.. ironically), but it's been a good little adventure car.

I've been thinking about getting something a bit more bike friendly lately however, possibly something like a Honda Element or a Ford Transit Connect.

The day I picked it up.

I had an old 89 dodge caravan turbo for 12.5 years that I bought for $800. It looked like absolute garbage but it was loaded and every thing still worked, it was great. Sold it around 5 years ago and still miss having it around. It was such a handy vehicle.Beater for your bike?-img_0492.jpgBeater for your bike?-img_0494.jpg

I've been considering a beater. I would like to go to a trail on my way home from work, but there is no way I could leave my bike on an exterior rack during the day. It would be gone before I reached my office.

My Honda Element with my bike loaded in it. It's nice and secure when it's inside.

My '77 Chevy van. My grandpa bought it brand new. It's a little ruff, but I hear the patina thing is in right now, lol.
