Xtracycle Donor Bike?
I am turning to you guys for help! I have an Xtracycle on an old Trek 820 frame. I am building this as a low cost experimental trail maintence bike. I am about half finished and after a short ride I quickly found the BB height to be really low with this setup? So my question is are there any steel framed bikes with higher BB's that a standard 820?
I have thought about turning it into a 69er, but I suspect it will throw geometry way off. So does anyone have any ideas for me?
Was the BB height lowered when you did the conversion, or is it just that you aren't used to the long wheelbase on trails? Because my Big Dummy, I take it offroad occasionally (shuttle vehicle for my 4y.o. son when he gets tired of pedalling) and when there are small little jumps and dips, I do bottom out quite a bit.

As I understand, with the Xtracycle conversion (and other stretch cargo bikes), the BB does get lower. It's done as I remember for stability when you have a lot of load on the rear of the bike. You ask a great question and I don't have an answer for that. I'm thinking maybe modifying what you have such that the BB can be raised. Good luck with that.
