    Thule bike carrier

Looking at getting the Thule Raceway 2 bike platform carrier or the regular raceway 2 bike carrier. Anyone have one? What do you think of it. Need it to fit my 98 Explorer and my girlfriends 06 Hyundai Accent. According to the fit guide from Thule it should work on both our cars, only thing i've read bad about the raceway series is the design of the carrier where it meets the bumpers and trunks on cars puts all the weight on the corners of it and is denting peoples trunks and bumpers

Ive been considering the Raceway Platform too. Priced now at $278 from Backcountry or Amazon. I think if you keep most of the weight on the upper cables and maybe try to disperse or increase the lower contact points at the bumper there shouldn't be an issue. Of course, the weight of your bikes and road/driving conditions should be taken into account. I have an old car so I'm not as concerned. Still having a hard time spending that much on a rack.

Only issue I have with the Raceway platform is that it is heavy. most hatch racks, when the bikes are unloaded, you can open the hatch without too much worry. The RW Platform will actively weigh down the hatch, and overpower the lift gate assist. Holds the bikes fine though.
