Swagman Semi 4.0 $680 at Jenson. Good deal?

I'm looking for a 2" hitch platform rack, and Jenson has the 'deal' for Swagman Semi right now. Deal is in quotes, because I don't really know if it's a good deal or not. My other choice is Kuat NV, but that will run me almost a thousand bucks for 4 bike version (2 bike + extension for another 2).

As far as I can tell, Swagman is a solid, no frills platform rack. You don't get a bike stand, not as sexy, but it's not $1000 all said and done either. Seems like it can do its job well.

I also looked at 1UP, but it's even more money when configured for 4 bikes.

    Any comments?

I recently picked up a Swagman Quad 2+2 from my LBS for roughly 20% off of list. It's not the fanciest rack but it works great and didn't cost a thousand bucks. Looking at Swagman's website, list is $680 for the Semi. Not really a great deal if they are charging full price.

Thanks, BXCc. I totally missed the price on Swagman's site. This doesn't make any financial sense then.

Why not get a Yakima Holdup plus 2 bike extension? REI has them on sale right now, so you could get both for $615. I just bought one and love it.
If you're really stuck on the swagman, you can get it at etrailer.com for $620 plus shipping.

Not stuck on Swagman at all, but have not read rave reviews about Yakima. I have a Yakima trunk track, and it's not great.

etrailer.com has the Swagman semi for $612 and free shipping. Looks like a nice unit. Anybody out there using one now for a review?

Checked out Yakima Holdup at REI today, and it's the older model that they have on sale. No locks on the arms and it's holy crap heavy. The plastic latches didn't impress me either. The price break is nice, however.

I'm thinking, if I get this for many years to come, might add well spend extra hundreds and go for Kuat? Decisions, decisions.

I can't speak for your REI, but the one I bought yesterday at REI is this year's model, with built-in locks and three position tilt. This one:

Thanks, martinizer. I'll check out the REI by work as well.
