    Subaru discount for IMBA members ?

    Hi I'm thinking of buying a new Subaru and I am an IMBA member. I understand that IMBA members can get a discount off the purchase price of a new Subaru. I've been trying to call the IMBA phone# that is listed on their website I press 0 for talk to a human, but keep getting put into their "general mailbox".

    Does anyone know what the actual dollar amount discounts are? What discount have other members received?

    Forester = $ ?
    Outback = $ ?
    Crosstrek=$ ?

    It is 2% under invoice. Must be an IMBA member for at least 6 months.

    If you're looking at an XV, '14 Forester, or WRX, this is a very good deal; if looking at a '13 Legacy or Outback, or Tribeca, you can do same or possibly better on your own without the certificate.

    Note: pricing changes as demand changes, so what I said only really applies for summer '13, in case anyone sees this thread later on. But, the IMBA discount is invoice minus 2%. You need to get a Subaru VIP certificate thru IMBA.

    Ok so it's not like a cash back deal or a gift card type thing where you get $xxxx.xx off after negotiating your best deal. Gonna look at 2013 Outbacks which are currently advertised right around invoice where I am. They are also advertising 0% financing on these. I wonder how many months that's for.

    thnx

    The IMBA discount is set up to get you a very very good price WITHOUT negotiating. It will be better than whatever TrueCar etc spit out.

    I have a 10 year old Subaru Forester sitting in the driveway that I bought with the IMBA discount way back when. I paid invoice - holdback + $200. I used the 0% financing they offered at the time. As XJaredX says, negotiations were minimal. I think we would have been able to buy the car in under 1 hour if my wife hadn't had to take my < 1 year old son home from the dealer early. The salesman came over to our house to finish with us signing the papers.

    I would use the truecar price as a gauge to see if you are getting a 'deal'.

    It is free to use and takes a little bit of your time.

    I just went to TrueCar.com ...in my area, for a '13 Outback 2.5i Premium CVT w/ AWP, MSRP $28,332, TrueCar said I should buy it for $26,175... IMBA discount is $25,990. Invoice is $25,521.

    If you whip out an IMBA certificate, that's instant gratification- if you whip out a TrueCar printout, it *may* help in negotiations, but it may not. It is a good gauge, I suppose, to see if you're in the ballpark.

    so IMBA price is above invoice? I thought it was 2% below. I can get one for pretty much invoice as it stands now, without the IMBA deal.

    Man just went on that forum. some are claiming they bought 2013 outbacks for $2000 Under invoice !! WTF. Dealers by me seem to be at or slightly above invoice.

    yes... location, inventory numbers, time of month, etc - can effect prices.

    a lot of the subaruoutback.org members will email several different dealers and see what comes back.

    also, some are traveling out of state.

    continue with your search.

    also, are you a costco members... credit union, etc.

    try those, too.
