Road Trip: 7 dudes + Bikes, on car

    10 hour drive.

Is it possible? Has it been done before? I'm collecting racks today and loading up on burritos.

I'd love to see 7 dudes and 7 bikes do a road trip in that Smart.

Yes. I've done it with a mini van with a four bike hitchrack and 3 bikes on top. But the odyssey engine despite its v6 and 245 hp was really laboring.

The 7 racks are ready. There is going to be a big cargo box in the middle of the roof. Fingers crossed!

That 1upusa rack is a work of art.

Does that bike rack have any lights or reflectors on it? From a legality standpoint, I'd think it'd almost need lights since it sticks out so far. Also, watch out for low clearances...lol Also, I would never want to be in a vehicle for 10 hours with 7 people, I think a Suburban isn't big enough for that.

I do believe there was a thread on here where some riders got rear ended by a truck because they had not lights on the back of their rack.

you must be going someplace that's really worth the 10-hour trip

my friend is planning a 350km trip from our place in laguna to baguio/ mountain province this november, with 2 bikes on the roof and 4 bikes at the back, but the trip will only be less than half of yours and that is nothing compared to what you plan to do

be sure to post some pictures

    have fun!

check load limits for your vehicle, you don't want to damage it if you drive 10 hrs overloaded.
I think you going to carry at least 700 kg including passengers, bikes and stuff, maybe more which can easily go over your vehicle capacity. Also before trip make sure that tires are inflated not less than as per factory specification.
