somehow the lock rotated thus positioning itself so that i cant near it with its key. This is the lock. Any ideas?

you're going to have to pry it back into position, perhaps with a long, flathead screwdriver. it might rough up the plastic, but if it got itself there in the first place, i'm sure it can get out.

It looks to have a head on the bolt. Turn it with a wrench.

i picked up a crow bar from sears @ lunch. C&R thanks for the idea. Ill most likely try the prying method. I figure worst case is i hack the bolt in 1/2.

Tighten the bolt, I'm guessing you didn't when you installed it, which allowed it to back out until it bound on the lock. Tightening the bolt will free up the lock enough to turn it easily.

    Well it worked

i had to pry the lock far enough so that i had a clear shot to insert the key and unlock it. i was also able to relock it too. May need to use a different method in the future.
