Built a bike rack for my truck bed

got the idea from a youtube video.

Here it is empty in my living room.

    With a bike in it.

This is how the bike is clamped in. (The interior 2x4 is not attached to the back board, so it flexes)

These turnbuckles allow me to attach it to the tiedowns in the truck bed.

it also fits nice and snug between the wheel wells.

Now I just need a coat of paint.

    About $10 in hardware and I think I used 5 - 2x4 studs.

I would have loved to see an actual "bake rack" on your truck carrying cupcakes and pies.

Gotta ride my bike to work off all those pastries.

P.S. Since my truck is a 4 door, I have a short bed and the tailgate has to be down for my bike to fit. I'll add a tie down strap across the bikes as extra precaution and also to keep them from swaying laterally and putting too much side pressure on the front tires.

So I finished it. Turns out if I put the bike in backwards it's more stable AND I can close the tailgate.

FYI, I did add a second coat of better quality paint after taking these pics.

The only thing I would do different is put the horizontal 2x4 lower. Right now it partially blocks vision in the back window. I will most likely lower it soon.
