Hello...I am new to the moutainbike thing and am currently laid up with a nice grade 2 torn calf from playing soccer...so no riding for me for awhile. So...what to do with this time on m hands? I wanted a bike carrier since I have a hard cover on my truck and keep junk in the bed, but I also wanted a service stand....so...I built my own!
-telescoping tubing..2" perforated and 1-3/4" ( I screwed up and ordered solid instead of perforated for the small size so I had to drill a bunch of holes)
-1" rigid electrical conduit
-3/4" sch40 pipe
-7/16" clevis pins and hitch pins
-some 1/4" flat stock
-some 12ga stainless
-2.5" deep pony clamp
-a fork type bicycle carrier thingy
you gotta know how to weld and have metal forming tools. I used galvanized tube and painted where I stripped the galvanize.
I used the basic pony clamp design scene on lots of DIY service stands. Since everything is pinned together, NO TOOLS are required. I need to finish up the fork mounted carrier piece as I just threw it together before I stepped out for the holidays.
On with the pictures...
