    bike beam/adapter question

I have a saris bones 2 trunk rack with a thule bike adapter. it seems to work for the most part, but I was wondering if there was a way to lock the rotating mechanism so that my front stem area won't turn so much while I'm driving?

Is the saris bike beam adapter any different?

You mean the handlebar and wheel?
can't you just wrap a strap or bungee around the down tube and through the rim?

no, I mean the actual bike adapter. the part that connects the step seems to have a 360 degree turn (not sure why), but in my travel, the adapter seems to tilt to the left or right and it looks like the adapter's front hole clamp goes through the step and it's very unstable.
