will ring to fit si cranks

hi all. hope you are enjoying the sun now that it's here.

i am buying a cannondale f2 within two weeks and i recieved a cannondale road si carbon bb30 chainset. i would love to fit these to the bike as they weight bugger all.

my question is. can this be fitted, as i know that road axle lengths differ from mtb's. aslo i if fitment is not an issue what are my ring size options as it has no rings on it. basically i would like to get the samllest inner ring fitted. but i am not sure what the smallest size would be. bare in mind this is a five arm road "compact" chainset.
    thanks for any help

No they can't be used on a mountain bike, they are not wide enough to clear the chainstays (both the arms and chainrings wouldn't clear the chainstays). The smallest ring that fits on a compact road crankset is 34.
