what material clamps of lefty are made of?

    Hi,
Does anyone know which material the clapms of the Lefty Speed carbon are made of? It seems aluminiun, but aluminiun in that part could be fragile......
    Thanks.

The clamps are machined from aluminium and then bonded to the structure. They seem to be strong enough I know of one early production SL where one of the clamps cracked, but mine has been fine through a lot of hard miles. The key is not overtorquing the bolts, use a torque wrench to spec.
If you think about it they use aluminum for the clamps on downhill and motocross forks, the key is to use enough material in high stress areas.

And if you have seen the thickness of most tubing used in frames, stems, bars, you'll think the clamps are overbuilt.
