What happened to my Lefty? pic inside.

Last night while riding my Lefty locked up like the lockout button was pressed and it was almost fully compressed. I don't have a clue what would have caused this, but I carefully rode to my car like this. Since I have had an issue similar to this in the past, I pulled up on the bars while holding the tires and it returned to "normal", at least until I had a chance to remove the boot and check things out.

    What might have caused this?

    Thanks

My guess is the solo air piston. There have been a few revisions so I would have your shop send it back for an update.

Sorry about digging up this older thread. I was just wondering if you ever found out what caused the problem.

No, not exactly. Sent it to cdale for a rebuild which included a new tube.

I had the same problem during a long ridding trip in the south of Chile. I don't know what cartridge do you have in your lefty but in my Opi lefty it was caused by air migration between the chambers. The issue was in the air piston design from the Solo-Air Cartridge and it was solved with a piston update kit from Cannondale (free of charge). It can be quite dangerous as if you keep riding the fork you can blow out the bearing retainers or even the lefty's cap. This will twist your fork as I saw it once on another guy that was going downhill. Believe me when I tell you that things didn't turn out so well for him
