    Trail SL329er SS Rear Tires

What are people fitting for tires on the back of these things? I've got lots of bigger tires that would fit on my Caffeine 29er but won't fit this. I have Flow rear rim, I know I can fit a Smallblock 8 2.2 and a Crossmark 2.1, they are about the same. I cannot fit a X-King 2.4, a Gato 2.3, a Rampage 2.35, Ardent 2.4 or a Wolverine 2.2. I don't think it matters but my frame is a XL. I measured the tire rub marks on the frame from when I was using the OE rear wheel with the Smallblock 8 and it measures about 59mm.

I was thinking of trying some of the 2.2 Conti tires, or some sort of Geax tire. Any other suggestions? Buying and finding out they don't fit isn't something I want to do.

I am running Nobby Nic 2.25" F & R with plenty of clearance on my SL2 29er... Not sure if you have less clearance on the SS frame though, I wouldn't think so.

I'm running Gato 2.3 F&R with Stan's Arch with no issues on my XL 2011 SL3 SS 9ner. I've seen the Ardent's on the rear too with no fitment issues.

I pick mine up tomorrow. Running Stan's Crests & a Niner front fork. Not sure what I'll do for tires yet. Looking at Schwalbe, Maxxis, & Continental mainly. Curious about the Kenda 24/7 too.

I tried the Ardent 2.4, it fits between the lugs, wheel doesn't turn. I tried the Gato again too, if the rim was perfectly true, dished and nothing flexed I could get away with it. Think I need something in the 2.1 up to maybe a 2.25 range.

Just ordered a Geax Mezcal 2.1 for pretty cheap. I'm going to put a Gato on the front and give it a whirl.

Continental XKing 2.2 has a lot of clearance.

Thanks, might get one if I don't like the Mezcal. I liked the Gatos well enough that I thought I'd try another Geax tire. They also set up tubeless really easily even though I didn't use the TNT versions.

Set the non-TNT Mezcal up tubeless on my Flow rear. After and a few days it measures about 2.125 and has plenty of clearance. I think it will work out ok traction wise too. I've got a new Trigger 29er1 so the SS hasn't seen much use yet.

My Conty XKings are awesome. This thing is a climbing machine. Wish I would have gone 2.4 up front though.

I have two X-king 2.4, they won't fit the rear. I do like them a lot though. Perhaps we could make a trade, a 2.4 for a 2.2? I have the basic non-black chili version.
