    Thomson Elite Post

Hello all. A Rocky Mountain Slayer just joined my 1999 'Dale Super V 900 and 1995 Killer V custom. I thought I would be able to swap seatpost and set all at once between the SV and the Slayer but the Slayer diameter is just 26.8.

The post on my new bike slips every ride and I am in dire need of replacement. However, I would prefer to trade with a fellow rider if at all possible. I've got the post from my SV OR I have a brand new thomson elite post that I was going to use on my wife's SV 500. The Thomson post was too long for her bike and I could not bring myself to cut it so we just never used it. . . .

Any interest or advice in this forum?

All collars are not created equal...

When I first had my 1999 SV 900, the seatpost would slip under my hulking girth with the standard collar. I tried several standard collars and several quick release type collars including the much touted Salsa. They all failed to secure the seatpost. I was just about to give up when I finally tried some generic quick release and lo and behold, it held. I wish I could remember the brand (however it seems to have escaped my memory this year ), but I would find a bike shop with a good selection and try to find one that will hold on your Slayer before performing radical surgery (replacing the seatpost).

    Sound advice. Thanks.

I had no problems with my thomson and wanted to continue using it on the new rig. . . . .
