    Super V bottom bracket size?

Can anyone confirm that the bottom bracket size is 68x113?

I'm having trouble getting a 68x113 octalink bb to fit - it seems to be a few mm too big.

68 is the shell width, so that much is correct.

The spindle length is determined by the cranks used, and we don't have that info currently.

Also, V1 or V2 splined? Don't mess up your cranks by mixing the two.....

I'm pretty sure they are v2 splined as they are Deore mtb cranks.

Yes, they are V2, and really? 113 is too long?

    What's making you think this?

There's 109.5 in the V1, but that's usually reserved for road cranks, and obviously won't work in this case.

The steel retainer doesn't quite fit into the bottom bracket shell, its about 1-2mm out, it may need a clean or something as its not been used in quite some time ( the question on here was more of a sanity check that I had the right size bb )

    Steel retainer?

Do you mean the non drive side cup?

They generally stick out a little bit once fully snugged, if that was what you're referring to...

I would like to upgrade the bottom bracket and crank on my 2000 Super V 700 SX. Will the outboard bearing Shimano bottom bracket and XT MT 780 crankset work? Thanks.

68 mm BB shell is pretty normal stuff, I can't see any reason you can't, no.
