    Stem fitting question

    I have a 2001 F1000 with Lefty ELO and I need a longer stem.
I am looking at a XC3 SI Stem Steerer and wondering if this will work our for me. There are a handful on Ebay.

Feedback and sense of how difficult this might be to install would be helpful.
    Many advance thanks.

I am by no means an expert, but from my research online, you'd need a "bonded" lefty for those things. Mine is an 2002 DLR and I doubt that either of our Leftys from that era would work as I'm clamped and riveted, not bonded. I'd suspect you're similar if not the same.

However, apparently there are many many many stems available (even Cannondale stems) for our applications or even to take it step further, there's the Project 321 - 1 1/8" steerer "retrofit" available as well (which just opens up a ton more options for stems).

Look in the thread I started a few down. There's a little more in depth replies from people that might know a lot more of what they're talking about than I do.
