    sl series brakes................

ok, i gotta 2012 sl4, with helix brakes. i changed the pads to sintered, and have been noticing that well after a couple months of riding (2-3 times a week) the rotors are scratched up like nobodies buisness................. is it because they are low quality metal ? ive seen some nice alternatives on ebay, and am tempted to give them a go.....................

Sintered pads are semi metallic... So those scratches are from the metallic compounds within the pad scratching your rotor. You can change the rotor, but as if you still are using sintered pads you will achieve the same effect.

I know shimano makes "Resin pads only" rotors, and regular rotors which are probably hardened and made to work with (semi)metallic pads.

If your rotors are equipped with resin pads, you always want to stick with resin pads. They generate less heat and will not overheat any oil and seals that would not normally be affected by heat generated by any organic/resin (for hydraulic brakes). However semi metallic would end up conducting heat and transferring over.

Fitted my new rotors, and they rub slightly, hopefully after a good ride they will be okay as the helix brakes don't have adjustment.
