    Scalpel size (Medium or Small)

I'm torn between the sizes medium and small on the Scalpel and not sure which to choose (none in stock).
    My height is 5' 9,75" (175cm), inseam 32,37" (83cm)
I currently ride a medium F800sl but have to slide the seat forward to maximum, then it fits good. The Scalpel is a little longer (headtube) so Im worried that the Scalpel medium would be just a little too big to handle on climbs. On the other hand I don't want a wobbley bike when riding fast downhill.
Help me out someone so I can buy this pearl soon!

I don't have a Saclpel, but I would have thought a Medium was better. I'm just a bit taller than you and ride a medium hardtail, also with the seat forward to look after my knees on the steep climbs.
What size stem are you using?

I'm using the stock stem (think it is 100mm).
My measurements say that if I buy the medium Scalpel I need too slide the seat forward and buy a shorter stem.
Alt. too buy the small Scalpel and slide the seat all the way back.
What to do, what to do?

    I don't think that's the case.
You should be positioning yourself on the bike by locating your knee relative to your pedal; not the position of your hands. Get your legs right first and then buy the stem for your hands.
Given that the seat tube angle is the same on both sizes your seat should be in the same position on both frames as the seat tube is the same for a small or medium.
Most of the horizontal measurements are different by an inch and a half or 38 mm.
That's a fair bit. You'll be needing a 130mm stem or more for the small.
Hard decision - can you take either size for a ride up and down a hill?
Your stem size is stamped on the stem - 12020254 means 120mm, 20 degrees.
I think that on the shorter bike with your weight located closer to the front axle you'll feel a lot less stable on the small - more endos.

I'm still waiting to get my Scalpel 900 but I was fitted to a medium and I am between 5'7 - 5'8 so you are definetly a medium...

I'm 5'11" and ride a large Scalpel and feel it's perfect - best fit I've ever had on a bike. As a c-dale dealer I've also fitted many folks to bikes and my advice is that the medium would be the correct size for someone 5' 9". BTW my 5'4" girlfriend rides a small with a 120mm x 5 degree stem flipped to get the proper cockpit length, and my guess is that your torso and arms are longer than hers.
