Has anybody else experienced their full sprint lockout failing? I have a 2014 Scalpel team. The lockout stopped working back in May. After bleeding the system with unsuccessful results, it had to be warrantied. It just stopped working again. I'm wondering if my thumb is somehow super strong or this is a normal thing.
Yes. On my F-29. After a year and about 750 miles. I sent it to Mendon Cycle Smith for an annual service and all good now. My two year old fork on my Scalpel (1500 miles) is still going strong.
The two 2015 team Scalpels I have worked on had lockout issues out of the box. A bleed took care of it. If bleed doesn't work C-Dale will send a new assembly, just have the shop you got the bike from do the bleed. On one the rear would lock fully but not the front. The bleed took care of it.
So i just purchased a 2015 team model and the lockout works but its hard as hell to push? would you suggest bleeding it to make it a bit smoother? Sounds like these things are quirky
How would bleeding make it less hard? If there is air in the system then bleeding would actually make it even harder to push so not sure how you get this idea.
But yeah, it is hard to push. I cant do it during a race with my thumb alone. I have to push it with my hand heel.
I was only asking. Seems a little to hard to push for a new system and if its been sitting for a while on a shop floor then I was wondering if bleeding will help.
Hi, same issue on my Scalpel 2 2015...the Xloc is not working properly and affects the shock performance...when locked the shock still has some travel and doesn't extend from sag and when open the shock is harder to compress and has less travel. Hope the bleeding will solve this...The service manual also shows turning the floodgate adjuster but on my lever there is no adjuster only a fix end cap...
Your bike is new. Why don't you just bring it back to the bike shop for them to check, repair, replace it. Seriously, if you paid that much $,$$$ just a few weeks ago, you shouldn't even have to post anything here and just bring it to them.
well, the problem is that the customer service in Slovakia is not the same as in the US I guess...the distributor is in the Czech Republic and it takes some time to solve such an issue...and I really dont trust the mechanic at the shop as I know him...I will give it a try in a different shop and see if it works...dont need to spend 2 weeks without the shock
Sounds like there are many issues with RockShox XLoc related to air in the system (sometimes out of the box, sometimes after some riding).
The worst thing is that when the system is not properly bled, or if it is somehow depressurized in the middle of a ride (e.g. because of damage to the hose) - the fork/shock become fully locked! And there is no way to unlock them on the trail - have to ride back on rigid bike.
IMHO, this is a total design failure. The appropriate design should have been: fork/shock become fully unlocked when the lockout hose is damaged (it also means that fork/shock are unlocked when the lockout button is in extended position, and you press it to lock, not vice versa).
Cannondale treated me well with a new bike after numerous shock issues and a separation of the carbon lay up on the frame of my 2015 Scalpel Team. My new bike had to have the line bled before the lockout worked properly. It now has about 500 miles of clean riding on it, and the the shock loses its air in about an hour. This shouldn't be happening when a bike is ridden by an xc twig like me.
So it was more the XLOC than the fork? My dealer is telling me they have to send the fork out. I was like it only started since the hose came off the XLOC at the bars, shouldn't have anything to do with the fork internals I wouldn't think??
the Xloc has a small indented wheel washer inside which is made of plastic and this part seems to wear out and fail...I think the replacements are made of metal...
Everything was working fine till the hose popped off. The bike shop bled it and it worked again then on its own the fork locked itself back out. The xloc button you and push in and out (which is very stiff) and the fork is locked either way. Sucks because the bike is no longer under warranty and the fork is pretty much useless locked out. But it did work when they first bled it and rode it.
