    Scalpel rear brake flex

My 2004 Scalpel 3000's rear brake flexes at the mount during braking; not only that, the rear wheel (mavic crossmax sl) pulls to the right (toward drive train). I've heard the scalpel can have a flexy rear, but is this normal? I'm thinking I need to rebuild my hub, and hope it's not worse than that...

    Thanks for any help.

it's normal to have a little bit of flex!
not 2 much. when you have 2 much flex you need replace the bushings.
check for play by holding the wheel with one hand en and with the other hand the saddle.
    then move the wheel sideways!

thanks. replaced all the bearings, new hub bushing (main one), new QR skewer (DT Swiss ratchet type, very cool). The flex is less, but still there. I notice a bearing pressed in to the axle on the non-drive side (same size as the one located in the hub) - is this replaceable?

Yes, all the bearings are replacable in the Crossmax hubs. But a friend with the same setup (1st generation Scalpel, Crossmax SL) had the same problem but it turned out to be just the hub's bearing preload, make sure it's adjusted so it doesn't have play in it once on the bike with the QR tightened.

I've got the adjustment pretty tight - I've heard hand tight and then back off a quarter turn.
It still has movement. I notice it's loose when I grab the tire and move it side to side. Should I be tightening more?
