    Scalpel - Chain Length

Having just built up a Scalpel I was wondering what is the correct chain length, in terms of number of links.

The frame is a medium, 44-32-22 chainset, 11-34 cassette, Shimano XTR long cage rear derailleur and a SRAM PC991 chain.

    Thanks in advance.

As with all bikes you build, just drape the chain as if you are cross ringing big ring (front) to big cog (rear) and have the chain overlap itself by 1 or 2 links. The object hear is to make it long enough so that it won't break your rear der. or get stuck in that gear if you ever stick it in that big to big combination. Be sure when you "drape the chain" you run it as it is supposed to run through the front and rear derailleur.

I size mine that way but direct, without passing through the derailleurs...

Me too, but while advising someone who hasn't done it before, I don't want to allow him to cut the thing too short. By the way Dan funny pic of Bush (but I guess those are easy to find) and that snowboard company quote is pretty clever.
