    scalpel carbon frame generation

    Anyone knows why there is 2 frame generations on the 2012 scalpel carbon frame?

    Just guessing but probably carbon and aluminum. Carbon for upper end aluminum for lower specs.

    Both are the 2012 Scalpel carbon 1 29er... they feature the exact same components. The only differences (except for the frame) I noticed are the fr wheel cap color and seatpost collar color... Weird...

    I believe it is just the difference in frame sizes. The photo on the left is probably a small or medium frame and the photo on the right is a large or extra large frame.

    Correct. Who else agrees that the medium frames look better than the larges?

    Yep, frame sizes. The left one is a small, other sizes have the split top tube at the seat tube junction, it didn't make sense on the small since the seat tube is not long enough.

    Medium frames always look better, more elegant proportions with most bikes (says the guy riding medium bikes ). Although large frames with 29er wheels look better than larges with 26" wheels...

    The left one is a medium and I think the solid mast looks better...also coming from a medium guy of course.

    This is the small.
