ROCK SHOCK MONARCH 4.2 or FOX RP2

Just purchased a RZ140 Carbon Frame Set. The frame came with a Rock Shock Monarch 4.2 rear shock. Looking for opinions whether to keep the Rock Shock Monarch or replace it with a FOX RP2 or RP23. From what I read there have been problems with the Monarch.

    test the monarch
    itīs not so bad
but the rp2/rp23 is better - pay attention to the tune:
if you wanna change the shock
velocity tune M (better than the L) / rebound tune M / boost valve tune 225

"Show your bike some love and it will show the love back."

I bought a secondhand Monarch 4.2 online from someone who had taken it off of a brand-new bike. I've had it for about a year and have had no problems at all. Although I do not do tall jumps, I have taken every jump I have come across, and I weigh too much - 235 lbs. For what it's worth...

In my humble opinion It's all about the factory tune. Maybe your Rize came with the wrong tune.

However, you could afford a push tuning for your Monarch. That's what I've done for my Monarch 4.2. I used the services of x1-racing (I live in France), I'm so happy with the result and my Prophet 140mm works better.

Have an RP23 on a Lenz Milk Money. For various reasons, tossed a Monarch on.

I've always liked the Progressive 5th Airs, and the Monarch feels very much like them.

The RP is a perfectly nice shock, but I wouldn't say the Monarch is bad at all, and I very much prefer the feel of it compared to the RP. More plush, not as stiff, yet easily tuned to be as stiff if I wanted. Much more supple edge to the platform.

Problems with the Monarch? Haven't heard that yet, but I'm not looking either...
