    Raven

I was thinking of picking a Raven up. Are they reliable, and what about the crankset/bottom bracket? Will the exo cranksets solve the problem of bottom bracket spindle offset or would I have to stay with Cannondale cranksets?

Are these bikes just a pain in the ass or should I just build up an Uber V?

Dont bother. Even after the recall work was done, they fall apart. Very much NOT reliable!

Upon reading these posts back to back, I'm left with two different responses.

Cool, historical perspective? Yeah, build one up, and enjoy it. It's not the most durable bike, but ridden with an eye to it's carbon-ness, and it'll go many years. Cool looking too, but DO NOT get the first gen, the second is the one to get.

Modern, ride the hell out of it mentality? Yeah, they suck. An Uber will allow you to beat the living snot out of yourself, all the while, with a smile on your face.

    Rock.
This is a Pugs not some carbon wannabee pretzel wagon!!

The damage to mine was internal, not visual, so now I have some cool art:

I gotta hand it to the Raven II. If I hadn't gotten one I might not have discovered the Uber. When my Raven failed under warranty Mendon helped me get the white Super V frame instead. That frame eventually became one of my first Ubers

My Raven II frame is now wall art too!

A friend of mine had one. The odd thing is, the frame was actually replaced due to a recall, this was the "updated" frame.

In most cases the frames on the Raven II were not replaced until failure or the C-dale fix was to inject a resin into the bb area. If a frame received this a sticker may have been placed on it. Mine did, and 2 months later eerie creaking sounds developed. It was then officially toast.
The Raven I's weakness was the seatpost mount area.
