Went for a ride yesterday and had a bad problem with ghost shifting. I think the shifter cable housing was binding which caused the problem. It had been going on for a while but a broke deraileur, it's replacement with a low normal and then a LX disguised the problem. While looking at the cable I noticed that the little rubber bushings that are pressed into the swingarm were completely worn through by friction with the housing. The cables themselves are free when there is not tension but very stiff when attached to the deraileur. Could these rubber bushings be the problem? Any thoughts?
