    prophet bb

    I was wondering if anyone knew the size of the prophets bottom bracket? I ordered a new Truvative crankset and apparently I also need a howitser bb, but I have no idea what size to order? thanks a bunch......

    i believe its 68mm or english type. check the prophet tech document on cannondale.com

    Yes, the width of the bb shell is 68mm and it's an english thread.
    That's for the "normal" Prophet.
    The 4X and MX might be a different story....

    What kind of Prophet frame do you have?
    I don't know where you got the second numbers from, but 68mm & 73mm shells have English threading while 70mm is Italian.
    Just measure the width of your bb and then you can order one accordingly.

    The BB width is deteremine by the frame width. The spindle length is determine by the crankset. Check the instructions on the crankset for the spindle length.

    The BB should be 68 x (what ever the crankset instructions says).

    While the bottom bracket is 68mm, isn't a 73mm BB needed because of the E-Type front derailleur? I thought I had to install one 2.5mm spacer on the non-drive side when I installed my BB.

    chain line 50! 56 is for DH frames with 150mm rear!
