Prophet/Avid Ultimate brake line assistance needed

J.C. I just got off the phone with my LBS who are in the process of putting together my prophet. I bought a set of Avid juicy Ultimates for my bike but unfortunately the brake line for the rear brake is too short.

Give me a quick fix as the bike shop is at a loss. They are proceeding with the build minus the rear. This is where I need your help, fellow Prophet owners and or B.M.'s. I remember reading somewhere on MTBR of another person having a similar issue but I do not remember the solution.

Yeah I thought about that, will have to see tonight when I go to the BS.

For some reason I thought that they would be able to change out the hose that was too short.

Check distributors and other local shops. Avid makes that hoes in 3 different sizes 1400, 1450, and 1600. Mine came with the 1400 and it was real short, I ordered the 1600 trimmed it just a bit and it fit perfectly! Good luck.

i had a similiar problem with my avid exlixir CR's that I had put on my bike like 2 months ago. the back was just a little too short for my prophet and so my LBS ordered the longest hose from avid which solved the problem but it is still a little shorter than i would like but it is 100% ok...

This is just an FYI, alot of brake manufacturers will kit 1400mm hoses with 160mm rotor sets 1450-1500mm hoses with 185mm rotor sets, and 1600mm hoses with 203mm rotor sets. When I ordered the Elixir R rear set of my Rush the folks I bought it from swapped a 185mm rotor for a 160mm and shipped the rear 185mm kit containing the longer hose.

    No cutting and Bleeding.
