Ok. Slight kick in the jewels. Cannondale said it was their opinion that my frame cracked by a force greater than what I had explained. Their conclusion was "inconclusive ". They told me unless I have video to back up my story I was SOL! But to show they didn't think I was completely full of bs they offered me a crash replacement at $1600. I found their company number online and gave them a call to appeal. They were generous at that point to not overturn their decision but cut the price further in half for a Team frame plus swag. Hopefully I will be riding by the end of this week.

    2015 Black Inc

I just upgraded from an old carbon hardtail to a 2015 Black Inc- mind blown! While somewhat unnecessary, I'm loving the Di2. Can't wait to race it next spring...

Just can't see changing my riding style any more. Anyways, here is some before and after pics. If anyone interested or knows of someone interested in a scalpel carbon 3 rear triangle hit me up....

It shouldn't be that often. If you run your pressure low enough to occasionally bottom out on rides, then it should automatically reset.

Got a good deal on a 2015 Scalpel 3, replaced drivetrain and brakes with XT M8000, front tire to Ardent race and saddle to PRO vulture. 25.9lbs fully loaded (Cage, pedals, tubeless with sealant).

    Rocket.

My mishmash 2012 Carbon 1 parts/2015 Team frame. Not many mid 60s MTB days this dry in December. I saw more mud on my Slate on Saturday.

I have searched but can't find if anyone has tried to run 27+ tires on the scalpel 29er. I have the alloy version and would like a little more float in some of the sandier trails around my area.

    Cheers

I measured the space between the seatstays and chainstays to be only 2.75 inches. This was at the point the tire would come to.

I can barely fit a Maxxis Ikon 2.35 in the back without rubbing. No way you're going to fit 2.75s back there.

The front, on the other hand... I would like to see what you could fit on the front with the lefty. I am currently running a Maxxis Ardent 2.4 on the front with plenty of clearance. Would be interesting to see if you could fit a 2.8 on there. Not sure if you would run out of vertical clearance when bottoming out the fork, though.

I am looking for a 2016 Cannondale Scalpel 29 Carbon Race, frame ONLY, in size Medium. Oddly this one is not AI it seems. I don't get why they have SI and non SI for these either.

I'm guessing you aren't aware that the new Scalpel SI is a totally different bike than the non-SI?

The non-SI bike is the old frame and other than color is no different since 2013.

I am looking for the 2016 in medium, frame only. Love the colors and don't need the newest model (also $$,$$$). Maybe someone is selling a warranty replacement frame..

I have a Scalpel 2 in Medium with about 50 miles total. I bought it a year ago and barely used it because I had foot surgery (bunionectomy) and could not ride for six months. By the time I was ready to ride it was winter time and I ended riding my Fatty more than the Scalpel.

Two weeks ago I replaced the entire drivetrain of the Scalpel from XT 10 speed to XTR 11 speed. When I finished, I realized that I still would not be using it and would just rather sell the whole bike, or the frame / fork set / wheels.

Make me an offer. The groupset is the latest XTR 11 speed with zero miles. The only time the group was used was spinning on the stand to align the drivetrain.

Color is the White and Black with the Blue accents. Wheels are Mavic CrossMax with Schwalbe Knobby Nics 29 x 2.35. The original wheels were just Mavic Crossride and I upgraded them the the Mavic CrossMax.

This bike was purchased in the Cannondale Corporate Store in Glen Cove, Long Island. I have all the receipts and warranty paperwork.

I also have an XT M8000 groupset that is brand spanking new as well. If anyone is interested in an XT group instead, I could put those on the Scalpel and remove the XTR group. They are both brand new. If you choose the XT group though I will send them in boxes and you will have to install them yourself. That should be fun.

Let me know if you have any other questions. For buyers in the Tri-State NY, NJ and CT area, I am willing to drive halfway for a meetup.

I'm looking to buy a first-generation Scalpel (frame or full bike) in XL size. I've currently got a 2004 Scalpel 3000 with a large frame, but it's a little small for me, as I'm a lanky 6'3". So I'm thinking of a frame swap. Anybody got any leads? Bonus points if it's in blue/white.

Just got a 2015 Team to replace my Stumpy FSR S-Works. Finally got my dream bike. However Im contemplating getting another handlebar. Should I go for standard 700mm or opt for 740mm or 760mm?

I have the white/black Tricons on my 2012 Scalpel (with warranty replacement green/black frame). The color mismatch is driving me crazy. Should I ****-can the Tricons all together or go through the hassle of changing the white spokes to black?

I can fit a 2.4 Ardent and 2.4 Specialized Purgatory on Enve xc (skinny19mm internal) rims with plenty of room.

I'm running 2.35 Forekaster in the front and 2.35 Ardent Race in the back. Plenty of room for both on stock '15 Enve rims with 17.9mm inner width. They'd probably gain a tenth on each side with a wider rim.

Interestingly, they didn't seem to need sealant. The front tire lost 1 PSI in two weeks without it. The back tire didn't lose anything. I just put in a couple ounces anyway on the off chance I hit something sharp.

Go for the Barzo in the front and Ikon in the rear.

Mezcal looks a little weak for a front tire. You want a more aggressive tire in the front than the back. Barzo is OK. I'd probably pick something with bigger side knobs.

As above, the Ikon is best in the back.

I will look into the Barzo. The trails around here are not very technical so I can get away with fast rolling xc tires

Running 2.25 TNT Barzos Fr & Rr and so far really impressed, roll much quicker than expected given there grip in damp/muddy conditions...

    Fully Overhauled Scalpel 29er 3

Well....after a few years with my white 2013 Scalpel 29er 3, I decided to do a full overhaul this winter.

Frame was acid dipped, media blasted, and powder-coated anodized blue over super chrome by Killer Koatings powder coating in Cincinnati, OH.
Replaced every bearing, pivot bushing, and seal on the bike and upgraded many of the components. Overall, very happy with how it turned out and its pretty sweet to have a one-of-a-kind scalpel now. My buddy is cutting me some white cannondale decals for it, as I feel it is missing something to tie it all together.

Beautiful color. I'd be tempted to remove the red and yellow detailing to leave a pure blue/monochrome combination.
