New question here. pike on a prophet...which headset?

sold my Lefty...buying a pike for the ol' Prophet frame.
I heard there may be issues with the pike hitting the frame if the wrong headset is used.
Not sure how this could be...top crown???

anyway, what headset do you pike owners use?
1.5 with reducer cups is necessary I assume...

    thanks for the help.

I have a FSA headset on my prophet which came stock with pikes. My forks have damaged the cables in the past from touching them (close to the mounts), but not damaged the frame. This has only been on occassions when i have bailed though.

I have an FSA reducer only for the moment. My bike is in the process of getting built so I have not seen if this will work on it's own.

    Big question:
Is the FSA headset a 1.5"?

I was looking at a Cane creek on JensonUSA and it specifically stated that it won't fit some older C-dales which are CLOSE to the 1.5...but not quite.

I know this is true because I tried putting a 1.5 stem on my Lefty awhile back and it would not fit.

So...I want to remove my stock headset from the 2005 Prophet and replace it.

Can I use ANY 1.5 with reducers?

    thanks again.

the forks will hit especially the MX and the 4X frame , because of the extra gusset an the downtube.Any way i would us a headset with bigger lower height.about 15 mm

    There is also this:

    http://www.cannondale.com/deu/deu/Ca...echnote_en.pdf

its recommended for the MX frame with more axle to crown height !!!!!!!!! not for the regular one, the Orbit Z is not my favourite

A 1.5 reducer to 1 1/8 headset like the FSA will fit in the frame ,

The Frame is 1.5 , the lefty and the Lefty headset inner diameter are bigger than 1.5

Best pic I have at the moment. I have an FSA 1.5 reducer headset. I think I will need to lower the fork as the crown is too close to the head tube and the lines are getting squeezed in between. I will pull them apart with zip ties for now.

is your FSA 1.5 a PIG DH? if not, which model do you have?
how will you lower our fork?

To summarize...I can use ANY 1.5 with a reducer on an 05 Prophet...but you reccommend a larger LOWER height?

Any chance you can provide a list of the headsets that would work?

Thanks again for all the info!

My lyrik with u-turn had the uturn knob hit the frame if you tried to spin the bars past 90 degrees.

I was using an ethirteen 1.5-1 1/8 reducer and an FSA IS headset so I had almost zero stack height on either side. If you were running something with some stack height like a traditional headset it probably would clear.

I think the top caps on my 36 don't clear now either, but I suck at bar spins, so it doesn't really matter.
