Ohhh Dammit (2013 Lefty Headache Content)

A common problem with Lefties has occurred to my beloved F29A1! But why so soon? This bike is 28 days old! What gives? Bad luck perhaps?

I took it to work with a BB30 creak (surprise surprise) and I wanted to give her a scrub before a pretty nice ride I had planned for tomorrow.

Remove the front wheel and something feels a bit squidgy...

Everything looks ok, then I look inside the hub shell....

And guess who pops out to say hello...

Why, it's Mr. Helicoil! Here to ruin my plans for epic Friday ride!

    F*ck!

That usually happens from over tightening the front wheel, Cannondale will take care of it usually at no charge. Better then stripping out the the Lefty itself. Sucks your trip is ruined though.

Can you at least go to the autoparts store and get a new helicoil? To salvage a weekend of riding?

Overtightening the front wheel??? One of the guys on the Cannondale Demo Truck told me you can't overtighten the front wheel... I'm going to have to pay more attention to this in the future.

10x1 helicoil, any decent auto parts store or motorcycle shop ought to have them. Takes about a minute to install.

And yes, you can over tighten, and this is what happens when you do. Fortunately, Cannondale knew that folks love to tighten the ever loving crap out of things, so they installed a helicoil, so you don't ruin your fork!

I looked around my service department to see if i had any left, to no avail.

Replacement pack of 10x1 should be here any moment! Still have to deal with that creaking, but I bet I could salvage this day!
