Mavic Crossmax SX with Rock Shox Maxle 135mmx12mm

Hi everyone and appologies if this forum already exists (cant find it though!)

I am installing a pair "off the rack" Mavic Crossmax SX with standard QR system and was wondering its possible to convert the hub into a 12mm. I would like to use the Rock Shox 135mmx12mm through axle.

The second very important question is...is it worth it? Does it really make a difference? Thing is I have the Cannondale Moto 1 and to do this I would have to order new (interchangable) dropouts for this purpose and adding to the expense.

I will use it for climbing and then technical decents with some freeride in between (small jumps etc etc)

    What is your experience?

Thanks again and if this is a washed out topic I would appreciate if I am pointed in the right direction!

... . While the rear hub comes set up as quick-release, it can be converted to a 12mm thru-axle by popping out the quick-release converters. ...

... It depends on year.My sx wheelset(one with white flowers or whatever they are meant to be) came with a the Qr's fitted to the rear, these just pull out with a pair of pliers, this leaves the 12mm through axle.

Thanks! That most certainly answers the question if its possible.
But now the next...is it worth it? As I said in my case I have to make the extra expense to buy other dropouts. Does it really make the back tyre more rigid? Or does the QR system it comes with good enough for medium freeriding?

Any of you out there who replace the QR system with a 12mm thru-axle please stand up!

    Thanks again
