    Lockout not working.

2008 F4. I noticed today my lockout lever doesn't do anything. Not sure where to start. I might be overlooking something simple or may need to go to the local store.

Any ideas or things to look for?

Maybe Mendon will chime in here with some technical advice you can try, but I would suggest to bring it into a dealer. This happened to my lefty and the seals had to be replaced.

    thanks.

Do you mind me asking roughly what the cost for your repair was?

I guess I can call my lbs store but I doubt they'd even give me any ideas. They are always at least 2 weeks out for any work also.

Sorry I can't remember the cost, because it was still under warranty.

If lockout is not working it usually means that damper has lost quite a bit of oil so it has to be topped up and probably seals to be replaced. But don't be surprised if it starts to leak again

    Sounds like service time.

As others have said, loss of oil makes it not work. If it's never been serviced since new, you're way past time.

Cannondale recommends annual service. I often say you can stretch it to two years if it;s not ridden really hard, but still, time for some lovin'....

Dropped it off today. They think the seals can be replaced but will call me when they get into it.

Hopefully it's a reasonably easy fix.

I really need to learn to do the basic maintenance on it.

Where's the best place to learn. I could come here and ask questions but it seems like most members have higher end models which probably have alot of differences.

Lbs says cannondale doesn't make a repair kit for my bike since it's older. He said they did put air in it and it's holding.

What are my options to replacing it?

Actually, they do offer all the seals required, unless you need a complete damper, which, unless the shop screwed it up trying to *fix* it, you shouldn't by any means need.

Sounds like a shop that just doesn't know what they are dealing with.

Find someone who does, it'll be far cheaper than replacing it, I guarantee it.
