    lefty top cap

I was doing routine service on my lefty and i dropped the top cap on the floor from 4 feet or so and now it won't thread on! I tested it before i dropped it and it was fine,it threaded all the way down. Are these things so esaily warped that an accidental drop will cause an out of round!!! Never had this happen is a top cap/outer cap even avialable? This SUX BAD.

    mic check

I took the cap and checked it with a vernier micrometer and it is out of round .0026" Lesson learned, don't drop precision pieces.

One last thing to try is to loosen the top clamp around the Lefty tube (if it's not a DLR2). Sometimes the tight clamp will make the Lefty tube slightly out of round but when you loosen it the tube returns to round. This might allow you to try your slightly bent cap again.

Can't you gently tap it with a rubber mallet to bring it back to round?
