Lefty - if something better comes along, can I replace it?

Almost decided on getting a Scalpel 2000.

If one day something amazing comes along, which ISN'T from Cannondale... lets say, something like the Terralogic fork, but lighter, etc... can I take out the lefty and replace it, OR do bikes with the lefty only accept Cannondale components.

I guess my question boils down to: does the Scalpel 2000 have a standard fork support, or does it have a different diameter, etc.

well i imagine the scalpel would be able to use an adaptor, just like my jekyll which allows normal forks to be installed. my jekyll came with a manitou fork, but could still have a lefty installed. from what i hear about the lefty though, you won't want to switch it.

There are companies that make reducers, i know cane creek does and i think woodman does as well to fit the 1 and 1/8 steerers, but why would you ever get rid of a lefty.
