Lefty hub with 24 spokes is bad long term?

I saw this wheel set on ebay that was a mavic xm819, lefty omega 24 hub and dt swiss spokes.

Am I screwing myself long term on buying this? If I trash the rim, can get a replacement? Or, do I have to buy a wheel. I have not seen 24 spoke xm819 after market.

How well will a 24 spoke wheel with an 819 rim hold up in agressive XC riding?

The XM819 rims are stiff and strong, heavy a bit but they should help the wheel's overall strength and durability. For XC, I'd say they are fine. If you usually go through wheels fast, maybe you should stick with 32 spokes.

The reason you haven't seen aftermarket 24 spoke XM819 is just that, they are OEM only so yes, if you do trash one, it might be harder to come by.

I looked into buying one of these rims once, and at the time any Cannondale dealer could order one. I don't think you'll see one for sale anywhere in a store or online.

I also ordered one directly from Cannondale and had no problem.
